Reflective Practice
Reflective practice is the process of continuous learning through reflection, analysis and evaluation of experiences for the purposes of improving practice or behaviour.

121/Group reflective practice is a verbal reflection which takes place with a facilitator guiding/prompting the individual to follow a reflective practice model such as Gibbs Reflective Cycle.

It should be delivered in addition and separate to clinical or case load supervisions as the primary goal of reflective practice is to support the learning and wellbeing of the individual.
Who is Reflective Practice for?
Reflective practice is beneficial for everyone but its particularly useful for anyone supporting others.

Within the workplace, reflective practice is essential for health and social care workers as well as third sector organisations supporting areas such as homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, abuse, trafficking, sexual violence and abuse.

Reflective practice is also hugely beneficial for those who work alone on on a freelance basis supporting others such as coaches, therapists, small charity/CIC leaders etc.
Why do we need Reflective Practice?
Reflective practice builds and improves resilience, motivation and enables staff to develop their practice and grow, both as individuals and as a team, as well as allowing space for problem solving and for new ideas to take shape.

The benefits of reflective practice for individuals, teams and workplaces can have a huge impact on the wellbeing of your teams, their productivity and ultimately outcomes for the individuals you support.
Why choose Charli and Think Big Do Bigger to deliver your Reflective Practice?
As a Community Psychologist with NHS Reflective Practice training and a background working in mental health and homelessness services, I bring together the theoretical underpinnings of reflective practice with real world experience of using it whilst working within a support setting.

My coaching practice adds another layer to my reflective practice facilitation, enabling me to ask questions which allow individuals to examine their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours through a critical lens. Equally, I am inclined to steer people towards the question of ‘what next?’ following their reflection, ensuring they have a concrete plan to be able apply their learning as the move forward.

My coaching practice does not stand alone. I recommend regular individual reflections either written or voice note in between group sessions and offer the option to submit reflections for feedback between sessions.

I promote the importance of connecting and bonding as a group to support and uplift each other both as work colleagues and as human beings, I encourage everyone to embrace their own and each other’s individuality and strengths both during and outside the group.
